New Blue fosters partnerships between community members and forward-thinking officers
New Blue was proudly seed funded by Columbia Business School and incubated by MIT SOLVE
Our Mission:
Create trust in policing by identifying, empowering, and activating forward-thinking officers and their innovative ideas. We envision a future where communities and law enforcement agencies collaborate with transparency and a shared dedication to justice.
Our Approach:
2: We Incubate Their Ideas:
New Blue empowers Fellows by providing them with networks, funding, and essential skills to develop long-term solutions in policing. Our Fellows participate in a year-long fellowship where they identify a problem in police procedure or practice that erodes trust within the community. They then craft a systemic solution or policy change and collaborate with a pro bono PhD Researcher to analyze and amplify their solution.
1: We Identify Forward Thinking Officers.
We identify officers who demonstrate a desire to reimagine law enforcement. We provide them with the network, funding, and skills to develop long-term solutions in policing.
3: We Mobilize a Network for Change
New Blue supports a network of fellowship alumni who share their solutions within our database. Network connections allow agencies to adopt and scale the most promising solutions in pursuit of increasing police legitimacy and community trust.

New Blue ignites change from within.
New Blue believes that change is brought on by representative leaders through their sustained and channeled efforts. Our fellows are from the communities they serve, and have relationships that grant them unparalleled context and understanding of community needs. Based on this initial context, our leaders are well-positioned to problem-solve and advance the priorities of their communities. After the completion of our Fellowship, officers are well-positioned to modernize police procedures and common practices.
